- Carlton Fisk, who was
- nicknamed ΓÇ£Pudge" as a
- boy, grew to be the major
- leaguesΓÇÖ most durable
- catcher. A native New
- Englander, he signed with the Boston Red
- Sox. In 1972, his first full season, Pudge out-
- hit all of his teammates for average (.293)
- and home runs (22), and knocked in 62 runs.
- That year, he was the only rookie chosen for
- the American League All-Star team (the first
- of 11 appearances), and was named Rookie
- of the Year.

- Game 6 of the 1975 World Series, against
- the Cincinnati Reds, with the Red Sox
